Two cyclists set off at the same time towards each other from two villages. The speed of one cyclist is 200m / min, and the other is 300m / min. Find the distance between the villages, if after 5 min. the distance between the cyclists was 2 km.
1. Let’s determine how many kilometers the first cyclist traveled in 5 minutes:
200 * 5 = 1000 m.
2. Let’s calculate how many km the second cyclist traveled in 5 minutes:
300 * 5 = 1500 m.
3. Let’s calculate the distance covered by both cyclists in 5 minutes:
1500 + 1000 = 2500 m = 2.5 km.
4. Find out the distance between the villages:
2.5 + 2 = 4.5 km.
