Two forces act on a body weighing 5 kg along one straight line: 12 H and 8 H. Determine the acceleration of this body in the following cases: a) the angle between them is 0 degrees, b) the angle between them is 180 degrees.

Given:
m = 5 kg;
F1 = 12 H; F2 = 8 H.
a) the angle is zero degrees
b) the angle is 180 degrees.
Find: a – acceleration
Decision:
a) we use this formula: a = F1 + F2 / m
Let’s substitute the known values into it
a = 12 + 8/5 = 4 m / s ^ 2
b) We use this formula:
a = F1-F2 / m
We also substitute known values into it and find the answer:
a = 12-8 / 5 = 0.8 m / s ^ 2
Answer: a) 4; b) 0.8
