Two planes simultaneously took off from the same airport in opposite directions and after 3 hours landed. The distance between them became 5100 km. How much the speed of one of them was higher than the speed of the other, if the speed of the first plane was 900 km / h.

If the speed of the first plane was 900 km / h, then in three hours it will fly the distance:

S1 = V * t = 900 * 3 = 2,700 kilometers.

If one of the aircraft flew 2,700 km, and the total distance between them is 5100 km, then the path of the second aircraft will be: S2 = 5,100 – 2,700 = 2,400 kilometers.

Once the second plane covered 2,400 km in 3 hours, its speed will be:

V2 = 2,400 / 3 = 800 km / h.

If the speed of the first plane was 900 km / h, and the second was 2,400 km / h, then the difference between the speeds would be: 900 – 800 = 100.
