Two swimmers swam simultaneously towards each other from both ends of the pool, the length of which is 100m
Two swimmers swam simultaneously towards each other from both ends of the pool, the length of which is 100m, what is the distance between them in 2 minutes if the first swims at a speed of 20m / min and the second – 27m / min.
1. Let’s calculate what distance a swimmer has swum in 2 minutes whose speed is 20 meters per minute.
2 * 20 = 40 meters.
2. Let’s determine how many meters the other swimmer swam, if it is known that his speed was 27 meters per minute and he swam for 2 minutes.
2 * 27 = 54 meters.
3. Find the distance that both swimmers have swum towards each other.
40 + 54 = 94 meters.
4. Find out what is the distance between them, if it is known that the length of the pool is 100 meters and that they have swum 94 meters.
100 – 94 = 6 meters.
Answer: In 2 minutes the distance between the swimmers will be 6 meters.
