Cocci are subdivided into micrococci (there are no pathogenic species, sometimes found in inflammatory processes), diplococci (causative agents of gonorrhea, purulent diseases, croupous inflammation of the lungs), streptococci (scarlet fever, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, streptoderma, etc.) tetracocci (abscess, gangrene, tuberculosis ), sarcins (typhoid fever, dysentery) and staphylococci (osteomyelitis, meningitis and mild skin infections).
