I think the most important factor is age. The older a person is, the more life experience he has, he may be disappointed in some things or, on the contrary, believe in something. Another important factor is society and changes within society. For example, in the USSR, everyone believed in the Communist Party and their audiology, but with the collapse of the country, the worldview changed dramatically in the opposite direction. An important factor is the media, which can impose a particular position in society.
