Using an alcohol lamp, heat the water from 15 degrees to a boil. Determine the volume of heated water if 150 ml of alcohol burned out.

Given: t0 (initial water temp.) = 15 ºС; V2 (volume of alcohol) = 150 ml (150 * 10-6 m3).

Constant: boiling point (boiling point) = 100 ºС; Sv (specific heat capacity of water) = 4200 J / (kg * ºС); ρс (density of ethyl alcohol) = 790 kg / m3; q (beats alcohol combustion heat) = 2.7 * 10 ^ 7 J / kg; ρw (water density) = 790 kg / m3

Let us express the volume of water: Cw * ρw * V1 * (tboil – t0) = q * ρw * V2; V1 = q * ρs * V2 / (Cw * ρw * (tboil – t0)).

Calculation: V1 = 2.7 * 10 ^ 7 * 790 * 150 * 10 ^ -6 / (4200 * 1000 * (100 – 15)) = 8.96 * 10-3 m3 (8.96 l).
