Using the necessary reagents and equipment, perform the following transformations 1: FeCl3-Fe (OH) 3-Fe (NO3) 3-Fe (CNS) 3

1.Add alkali NaOH to ferric chloride. A brown-brown precipitate will form – iron (III) hydroxide.

FeCl3 + 3 NaOH = Fe (OH) 3 + 3 NaCl.

2. Add nitric acid to the resulting precipitate. The precipitate will dissolve when the acid is added.

Fe (OH) 3 + 3 HNO3 = Fe (NO3) 3 + 3H2O.

3. Add a few drops of potassium thiocyanate KCNS to the obtained iron nitrate.

Fe (NO3) 3 + 3 KCNS = Fe (CNS) 3 + 3 KNO3.

As a result of the reaction, a blood-red substance is formed – iron thiocyanate.
