Velvet revolutions in the countries of Eastern Europe in the 80-90s. XX century.

The Velvet Revolutions represent the displacement of the communist parties in the countries of Eastern Europe. It was characterized by a peaceful transition of power. The exception is Romania, where armed clashes took place (the result was the execution of Ceausescu).

These revolutions began due to the weakening of the influence of the USSR, which until then controlled the situation in these countries. The refusal of the Soviet government to implement the doctrine led to the strengthening of democratic forces.

Velvet revolutions began in Poland. Also occurred in the GDR, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria.
