Was the First World War inevitable?

Although Europe was on the verge of war, at that time the world had not known major conflicts for several decades. It all began due to the fact that at the end of the 19th century, two opposing forces began to form: the Entente and the alliance of the Central Powers. It was the ambitions and goals of these large states that led to the fact that in 1914 one of the largest world wars unfolded in Europe. Each of the warring parties wanted to realize their interests and expand their sphere of influence.
