Was the French Revolution successful?

The French proclaimed a republic. The huge building, the thought of which inspired fear and horror among the inhabitants, fell. It was the Bastille. Traditionally, everyone who was disliked by the crown served their imprisonment in it. Many worthy people who could apply for significant positions served long sentences there. This revolution has become an example for other countries. For the first time in many years, people have heard the word about equality.
