Water of different masses is poured into two cylindrical vessels of different shapes.

Water of different masses is poured into two cylindrical vessels of different shapes. Are the forces of water pressure on the bottom the same.

The pressure of the liquid column at the bottom of the vessel is calculated by the formula:

P = d * g * h, where

d is the density of the liquid,

g – acceleration of gravity,

h is the height of the liquid column.

As you can see from the formula, the pressure does not depend on the mass of the liquid, but depends only on the height of its column. If more water is poured into a cylinder with a large base diameter than into a narrow cylinder, but the water in both vessels is at the same level from the bottom, then the water pressure on the bottom in both cylinders will be equal.
