In the condition of the problem, the total mass of the solvent and salt is given – 25 g, as well as the mass of the salt – 1.75 g. Using the formula below, we can find the mass fraction of salt in the initial solution.
W = m salt / m salt + solvent * 100%,
where the mass fraction is W.
W = 1.75 / 25 * 100 = 7%
Thus, the initial solution contained 1.75 g of salt, which corresponds to 7%.
