Westerners’ Attitude to Western Influence.

Westerners welcomed the development of Russia according to the scenario of Western European countries, assessed the impact positively. They advocated the establishment of a constitutional monarchy instead of autocracy, similar to the one that was established in England. Representatives of this movement advocated the abolition of serfdom, the transfer of land to private ownership of the peasants, so that they could develop their own economy. They proposed to carry out reforms “from above”, peacefully, denied the possibility of starting a revolution.
