What achievements of the peoples of the East have learned in Europe after the Crusades?

The Crusades were of great importance for the countries of Europe, thanks to them the Europeans learned a lot of new things in botany, physics, chemistry, mechanics. The Arabs laid the foundations of hydrostatics (the science of the balance of liquid bodies), invented the pendulum in clocks, introduced the Europeans to the works of Arab (Avicenna) and Greek (Aristotle) ​​scientists. Thanks to the crusades, Europe got acquainted with the ancient Greek authors, whose works were known only in Arabic translations. Universities began to open in Europe, the first in Salerno, where lectures were given in Arabic.
There was an acquaintance with new agricultural crops, buckwheat, watermelons, apricots, lemon and pistachio trees, rice. Trade received a powerful impetus, the Italian cities-states of Genoa, Venice, Florence are entering the political proscenium of Europe.
The way of life has changed significantly, before they got acquainted with the Arab world, residents of European states, as a rule, did not differ in cleanliness. Now they started using soap for personal hygiene. Peasants and knights had only two changes of underwear, which they wore until they turned into rags. In 1311, for the first time in the listing of the bride’s dowry, six pairs of linen and the first handkerchief in the history of Europe (the only one in the whole dowry) appeared. The houses of the knights were replenished with carpets, various fabrics – brocade, muslin; numerous embroideries and patterns appeared. In everyday life, oriental games, which are still widespread, have acquired great importance – chess, checkers, cards, dominoes.
