What actions of the rulers of the Ancient Mesopotamia are permissible in your opinion of the 21st century?

The rulers in the Ancient Mesopotamia possessed significant, or rather absolute, power over their subordinates. They were considered his slaves, and the ruler himself was deified, it was believed that he received power from the hands of the gods whom they worshiped. The king himself decided what was the law and what was not, even if the laws were codified and spelled out. This, from my point of view, is unacceptable for the modern world. Another thing is that in Mesopotamia the rulers relied on the development of the army and on the development of their science – these are quite acceptable actions in modern conditions.
