What affects the placement of vegetation?

The placement of plants is influenced by such external factors as climate, precipitation, terrain, etc. Climate is influenced by the fact that different plants are adapted to grow in limited temperature zones. For example, tropical plants cannot adapt and die in the temperate zone, where temperatures drop dramatically in winter.
