What affects the placement of vegetation?

The location of different types of vegetation is influenced by the relief and geographic latitude. Depending on them, the temperature regime of the area also changes, since different plant species in the process of evolution have adapted to different temperatures. For example, broad-leaved and evergreen plants grow in warm regions of the planet. In the mountains at the same latitudes, these forests change into open woodlands, and even higher alpine meadows appear.
The amount of precipitation also affects vegetation. If there is little rainfall, steppes and deserts are formed instead of forests.
