What allows the integumentary tissue of plants to perform their functions? Describe these functions.

The functions of the integumentary tissues of plants:
1) protective (limiting the external environment from the internal);
2) implementation of transpiration and gas exchange, their regulation;
3) excretion of waste products;
4) protection against viruses, fungi, bacteria, as well as against animal consumption;
5) temperature fluctuation protection.
This is possible for these reasons:
• a large number of cells and a small intercellular substance;
• close arrangement of cells relative to each other, there are no intercellular spaces;
• thickening of cell membranes, their various modifications;
• fast regeneration (short cell life – rapid tissue renewal);
• presence of stomata, lentils.
