Constants: ρw (water density) = 1000 kg / m3; C (specific heat of water) = 4200 J / (kg * K).
The amount of heat released during cooling of water is determined by the formula: Q = C * m * (t0 – t) = C * ρw * V * (t0 – t).
Let’s calculate: Q = 4200 * 1000 * 0.01 * (100 – 40) = 2 520 000 J or 2.52 MJ.
Answer: When 10 liters of water cooled down, 2.52 MJ of heat was released.
