What ancient Greek scientists initiated the creation of number theory?

Number theory is a branch of mathematics that studies the properties of numbers and how they can be manipulated.
The beginning of the creation of number theory was laid by ancient Greek scientists such as Pythagoras and his students (Pythagoreans) studied the question of divisibility of numbers. The ancient Greek mathematician Euclid proved that there are infinitely many primes, i.e. behind each prime there is an even larger prime, Eratosthenes, Diophantus, Samos and others.
