What are Darius the first and Cyrus famous for?

We are talking about the kings of the Achaemenid empire. Darius ruled from 522 to 486. He suppressed many uprisings in his empire and under him it reached its greatest prosperity, the territory stretched from the Indus River to Egypt and from the Persian Gulf to modern Derbent and Samarkand. In the west, in the early years of his reign, he subdued the Greek islands of Chios and Samos, however, an attempt to capture mainland Greece in 490 ended in defeat. He also carried out administrative and financial reforms (he divided the kingdom into satrapies and introduced a single coin – the darik). He also built the new capital of the empire – Persepolis (Parsa), made a campaign against the Scythians and subdued Thrace.

Cyrus II was the creator of the Achaemenid empire in the 6th century BC, ruled from 559 to 530 BC. and managed to subjugate vast territories in Asia: Babylon, Lycia, Ionia, Media. He died during a campaign on the territory of modern Uzbekistan.
