What are food chains and webs? What types of food chains do you know? Give examples.

Trophic chains are food chains that reflect a series of relationships between organisms, in which matter and energy are transferred. Trophic chains are a type of food chain in which all organisms in a community are food for others. Trophic chains are: • pasture – they start from plants to herbivorous animals (grass-> blacksmith-> frog-> heron). • detrital – they begin with dead organic matter (litter -> primary detritivores (worms, fungi, bacteria) -> secondary detritivores (millipedes, protozoa) -> jay).
