What are historical sources for?

Historical sources are everything that directly reflects the historical process, its individual episodes, facts. Without these sources, it is not possible to build a causal relationship and build any assumptions about certain events in history. The most basic reason for research should be to adhere to “historical truth.” But in practice, various artifacts get to people who are not entirely honest and are used in the interests of certain people, groups of people, states. History is being deliberately distorted. Example: the well-known Bible is interpreted in different ways by different representatives of the cult, which has caused a lot of speculation and wars, a split in the church. It has been rewritten many times.
