What are instincts and how do they manifest in arthropods?

Instincts are many innate reflexes. These acts of behavior can be transmitted to a new organism from the mother’s body, or arise in the process of life. Unlike unconditioned reflexes, instincts are perceived by the animal’s body, at the level of the main brain, and serve as a model of its behavior. Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish innate instincts from acquired ones, for acquired ones a characteristic model of behavior that corresponds to an individual individual, for innate ones – to a whole species. The instincts of self-preservation and reproduction are characteristic of arthropods; they are not characterized by the acquisition of new instincts.
