What are savannahs and where are they?

Savannahs are steppe zones in the tropics and subtropics. It rains seasonally in these areas, and the dry season is quite long and dry. The cover consists of tall grass, and trees are also rare. Savannahs can be seen on the continent of Africa, where they occupy a fairly large area, in the southern parts of Asia and on the South American plains. There are many large animals in these areas. Rivers can dry up during dry seasons.
