What are some interesting facts about the poets of Ancient Greece and Rome?

1. Homer is known to us by two works (poems): “Iliad” and “Odyssey”. Many of the writers have tried to remake his poems. And even Shakespeare himself wrote one of his plays based on the Iliad.

2. Aeschylus Legend says that he died when an eagle dropped a turtle on him. The bird mistook his bald head for a stone.

3. Herodotus – He is considered the first person to circumnavigate the entire Earth. He started the journey. After him, an American Nelly Bye made an attempt to bypass the land already in 1889. And she did it in 72 days

4. Sophocles – When the Samos War broke out in 44 BC. e., then Sophocles was elected one of the ten strategists who led the punitive expedition.
