What are the boundaries of the spread of life on our planet?

Life cannot spread everywhere, there are certain restrictions. The main limitation in the atmosphere is the ozone layer, which protects the Earth from ultraviolet radiation and solar radiation. It is dangerous for a living organism to be above this layer. Also, the amount of oxygen decreases with increasing altitude, the creature may experience hypoxia – oxygen starvation. Low atmospheric pressure in the mountains also matters. In the aquatic environment, the spread of living organisms occurs differently – the limitation is the depth of the reservoir, the lack of light and oxygen. Only organisms well adapted to the harsh living conditions and high pressure can live on the ocean floor. In soil, life can exist at a depth of no more than 5-7 meters due to the low oxygen concentration and elevated temperature.
