What are the carbohydrates you know?

Carbohydrates are organic substances. In cells, they are used as a building material and as a source of energy. The general formula of carbohydrates is СnН2nОn. Carbohydrates are divided into:

1) monosaccharides in which n (C) is from 3 to 10, these include glucose, fructose, ribose, deoxyribose;

2) oligosaccharides, which consist of monosaccharide residues (from 2 to 10): sucrose, lactose, galactose;

3) polysaccharides, in which monosaccharides act as monomers, most often glucose: starch, cellulose, glycogen, chitin.
