What are the causes of Napoleon’s crisis?
Crisis phenomena in the Empire of Napoleon were brewing even before the defeat in the Russian company in 1812 and subsequent military defeats. First of all, Bonaparte’s constant military campaigns laid a heavy burden on the common people – townspeople and peasants, who began to lose faith in the “savior of France.” In total, during the years of his reign, 3 million people passed through the army – 15% of the total population. There was a lack of free hands during the harvest. Cases of desertion have become more frequent in the army. The results of Napoleon’s policy, which were beneficial to the big bourgeoisie, did not find a response among the supporters of the 1789 revolution and its defenders, which led to political persecution of the latter.
