What are the dates of the beginning and the end of the history of Byzantium?

Byzantium (Eastern Roman Empire) was formed after the collapse of the Roman Empire in 395. Unlike the Western Roman Empire, this state was able to live a much longer historical life, and was considered the successor of Ancient Rome. The capital of the empire was Constantinople. However, over time, due to a large number of attacks, Byzantium began to lose its lands and finally disappeared in the middle of the fifteenth century (approximately 1453).
