There are significant differences between medieval and modern cities. First of all, this refers to the structure and layout of the city. Thus, all medieval cities were fortified, that is, they had city walls and a moat, so that enemies could not penetrate the city. Also, in medieval cities, artisans of each profession lived and worked in a specific part of the city. The townspeople were all thrown into the streets.
