What are the differences between democratic and totalitarian states?

There are many different differences between democratic and totalitarian states. For example, the most important difference is in the rights of citizens of a country. So in a democratic country, a person has many rights, has the right to receive all information and express a point of view. But in a totalitarian country there is only one point of view – the authorities, and the rest are persecuted. Totalitarianism is characterized by complete control of the country, repression of the unwanted, and dictatorship. A striking example of a totalitarian country can be called the USSR, but democratic France, Great Britain.
