What are the features and originality of the civilization of medieval India?

We are talking about the period from the 5th to the beginning of the 16th century. The most famous state in India was the Delhi Sultanate, which was home to about 20% of the world’s population (100 million people) in the 13th and early 16th centuries.

The features of India of this period were as follows:
All three world religions coexisted in it: Buddhism, Islam, Christianity. The latter was represented by the community of St. Thomas (now preserved in the state of Kerala). Islam came from the west, but India could not be included in the Caliphate of the Arabs. In addition, there were such religions as Jainism, Sikhism (created at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries) and the most massive national polytheistic religion in the world – Hinduism.
Caste society.
The Hindus did not have external expansion, on the contrary, they were invaded by the Mongols from the Chagatai ulus, Muslim princes (they reached the south of the peninsula and created the Sultanate of Madurai) and Tamerlane (ravaged Delhi at the end of the 14th century).
