What are the features of the natural conditions in which the Mongolian state was created?

The Mongolian state was created at the beginning of the XIII century in the steppe zone. This is a rather curious case in world history – the creation of the state of the steppes, and not on the coastal territory (like Ancient Greece, Rome, Phenicia, the Bosporan kingdom) and not on the plains with developed agriculture (China, India, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Hungary).

The climate in the steppe was harsh, the summer was cold, the winter too, but the people were strong and hardy. Horse breeding was developed in the steppes, which made it possible for the Mongols to create a large cavalry army.
