What are the features of the structure and function of the arteries?

The artery wall consists of 3 different rows of tissues, which determine the individual properties of these vessels.
1) the inner layer is a layer of epithelial cell tissue – the endothelium lining the space between the vessels, 2) the middle layer is an inner elastic thin membrane, a thick layer of muscle and transverse fibers of the upper layer, 3) the outer layer is a loose connective fibrous tissue (PBST ) with blood vessels and nerves.
Function of the arteries: they distribute oxygenated blood throughout the body.
