Plastids are organelles inherent in plant cells. There are three main types: chloroplasts, chromoplasts and leukoplasts. Chloroplasts contain chlorophyll and support the process of photosynthesis. Chromoplasts have different pigments that provide color to fruits, flowers, leaves. Leukoplasts are colorless plastids and take part in the supply of nutrients.
