Unlike cartilaginous fish, bone fish are not able to change their position in the water column with the help of muscles. In this regard, they have another adaptation – the swim bladder. Filling it with gases, the volume of the bubble increases, which allows the fish to rise to the surface of the reservoir, if the gases in the bubble decrease, the body sinks to the bottom.
