What are the general properties of solids?

The presence of its own volume and shape is one of the main properties that characterize solids.

The crystal lattice, which is formed by the molecules that make up such a body, contributes to the indicated phenomenon.

Molecular bonds of the crystal lattice make it possible to firmly hold molecules in its nodes, allowing them only to vibrate around their equilibrium position.

Molecules do not have the freedom of movement, as, for example, molecules of a liquid or gas, therefore a solid is not able to “flow”, that is, to change its shape.
