Lithospheric plates are huge solid blocks of the earth’s crust that are in constant horizontal motion and change their shape. The fact that the lithosphere of the Earth is divided into plates was noticed by archaeologist J. Wilson in 1965. The boundaries of the lithospheric parts were marked by the American scientist V. North American Plate – 75.9 million sq. km.
Eurasian plate – 67,800,000 sq. km.
