What are the main functions of the lungs?

The lungs have a very important function in the body of animals. They play a direct role in the body’s gas exchange. Due to the pressure difference, air enters and exits there. Ventilation of the lungs occurs. Oxygen saturates red blood cells and is carried to all cells of the body. Blood returns to the lungs with a high concentration of carbon dioxide. It is replaced by oxygen, and the blood becomes “arterial”. The respiratory system is closely related to the circulatory system, as these systems perform the same function.
