What are the main stages of polar and route surveys of the terrain?

Route shooting is carried out while moving along the whole route. Stages: 1) Getting started – choosing a point from where the survey will be made: 2) Preparing for the survey; 3) Measuring distances; 4) Transferring terrain points to the plan; 5) Planning: 6) Route survey.

To obtain a plan of an open area of the terrain, a polar survey is used. The tablet is placed over the observation point (pole) and oriented. The observation point is marked in the center of the paper attached to the tablet. Then the scale is selected and with the help of a sighting ruler, lines of directions are drawn on the paper on the surrounding objects and the distances to them and in accordance with the selected scale are marked. Geographic objects are indicated on the plan using conventional symbols.
