What are the main strata of ancient Russian society?

In the social structure of Ancient Rus, one can clearly trace the signs of an early feudal society. The largest landowners and feudal lords in secular society were princes, boyars and senior warriors. The clergy were slightly poorer – they were allocated land plots by the princes. The church was, in a way, a collective feudal lord. Below there were vigilantes, servants of boyars and princes. Free farmers were prosperous – another social stratum. The lower strata included smerds, slaves, ryadovichs and purchases. They were also the poorest.
