What are the natural areas in South America?

In South America, there are several natural zones that change when moving from north to south along with climatic zones. Thus, the northern and central parts of the continent are occupied by humid evergreen tropical forests. After them, savannas prevail in drier but warmer parts. A small area in the south of the continent (on the territory of Chile and Argentina) is occupied by coniferous forests, where such a species as araucaria grows. In addition, some space is occupied by deserts and steppes (mainly in the center of the continent).
