What are the pine adaptations to the aerial-terrestrial habitat and what is the need for these adaptations?

1) Pine has well-developed roots. This is necessary to effectively absorb water from the soil: the larger the root surface area, the more water can be absorbed. The evaporation of water is regulated because at too high ambient temperatures, the plant would simply dry out.

2) Reproduction takes place with the help of seeds that are contained in the cones. Pines do not need water to reproduce. Usually, the seeds are spread by animals (such as birds and rodents).

3) Gas exchange is carried out using leaves (needles). Photosynthesis also takes place in them.
