What are the possible consequences of melting glaciers cause concern for scientists?
Melting glaciers will cause sea levels to rise. Water can flood the largest cities in the world, because most of the world’s population is concentrated in the coastal zone. Due to the development of international specialization and cooperation, production has shifted to coastal areas. Port-industrial complexes will also be flooded. Resettlement is possible, of course, but extremely costly.
The melting of glaciers will cause a decrease in temperature differences between polar and equatorial latitudes. This will reduce the differences in atmospheric pressure between latitudes. The speed of constant winds and currents will decrease. The climate of the inland continents will become drier, hotter in summer and colder in winter. The warming and cooling effect of currents on the coast of the continents will decrease.
