What are the processes of metabolism?

Metabolism (metabolism) consists of 2 processes: assimilation and dissimilation.
1. Assimilation is a reaction of synthesis of organic substances of the cell: proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Simultaneously with the synthesis in the cell, the disintegration of molecules takes place.
2. The essence of the dissimilation process is the breakdown of proteins, fats and carbohydrates into simpler substances and the release of energy. There are 2 types of dissimilation: respiration and fermentation. When breathing, the decomposition of complex organic substances occurs with the use of oxygen. This type of dissimilation is observed in animals and humans. Fermentation occurs in some types of bacteria, fungi and protozoa.
