What are the protective measures against infestation by parasitic worms?

1. Basic observance of hygiene rules – washing hands after visiting common areas (toilet, public transport). Washing hands before eating.

2. Processing (including thermal) of vegetables, fruits, especially those in contact with the ground – helminth eggs can often be in the soil.

3. Obligatory heat treatment of fish, especially freshwater, meat – long cooking / frying. At the state level, this is SanEpid control of all livestock farms, including the study of meat samples for infection with helminths.

4. If one of the family members is infected (more often in children), they must be treated without fail, incl. preventive the whole family, tk. the risk of the disease is high, despite the fecal – oral route of infection. Mandatory – daily change of underwear and bed linen, used linen – high-quality washing and ironing on both sides.

5. In the presence of animals (cats, dogs) at home, periodic (once a year) deworming (use of anthelmintic drugs) of our smaller brothers.
