What are the reasons and main results of the Stalinist modernization of the USSR economy?

The goal of Stalin’s modernization was to ensure the country’s economic and political security. For this, a course was taken towards industrialization – the creation of an industrial complex in the country. The industry was supposed to make it possible to produce the necessary military equipment. As a result of the measures taken to build factories, the number of heavy industry products increased by almost 4.5 times (over two five-year plans), which made it possible to achieve the set goal.
