What are the reasons behind the fencing process in England?

At the end of the 15th century, there was a gradual and steady rise in wool prices. Therefore, it became profitable to increase the number of sheep. For their grazing, first of all, large pastures were required. And therefore the poorest peasants gradually began to be driven away. They were forced to either partly hire themselves from wealthy herders, or go to the cities, making up the poorest urban pauper class. It was these people who then became the working hands of the industrial revolution that began on the island in the 19th century.
